Today we celebrate World Bee Day they are so important to our way of life. Here are a few facts about bees that you may not know.
•Honey bees live in hives (or colonies). The members of the hive are workers, drones and one queen
.•Honey bees are amazing flyers they fly a speed of around 25km per hour and beat their wings 200 times per second.
•The queen can live up to five years. She can lay up to 2,500 eggs a day in the summer months.
•There are around 25,000 known species of bee worldwide over 250 species in Britain.
•Honey bees are super pollinators for flowers, fruits and vegetables. A worker bee may visit 2,000 flowers a day.
